The ingredients: 

One cup of split Bengal gram, also known as chana dal, steeped for two hours

One little onion, diced

Two to three chopped green chilies

1 tablespoon of garlic-ginger paste

One teaspoon of zeera cumin seeds

One teaspoon of haldi, or turmeric powder

Red chili powder, 1 teaspoon

One teaspoon of powdered coriander (dhania)

Half a teaspoon of garam masala

Add salt to taste.

Two tablespoons of oil or ghee

Leaves of fresh coriander (for garnish)

Two cups of water

 method

 cook the dal until the dal is soft cook into a pot or pressure cooker 3 or 4 whistles add some turmeric , salt and two cup of water heat the oil in a pan add some cumin seeds, let them splutter add chopped onion ginger garlic paste green chilies until it golden

Spices: Add a small amount of water, coriander powder, and red chili powder. Cook for one minute.

mix the dal and simmer Combine Dal and Simmer: To the pan, add the cooked dal. Stir thoroughly and boil for five to ten minutes. For a thicker consistency, mash a little.

Complete: Season with fresh coriander leaves and garam masala.

Serve heated over rice or Balti roti.

Tip: add some dollop of butter before serving for richness taste
