Prapu
The ingredients:
One cup of split Bengal gram, also known as chana dal, steeped for two hours
One little onion, diced
Two to three chopped green chilies
1 tablespoon of garlic-ginger paste
One teaspoon of zeera cumin seeds
One teaspoon of haldi, or turmeric powder
Red chili powder, 1 teaspoon
One teaspoon of powdered coriander (dhania)
Half a teaspoon of garam masala
Add salt to taste.
Two tablespoons of oil or ghee
Leaves of fresh coriander (for garnish)
Two cups of water

Spices: Add a small amount of
water, coriander powder, and red chili powder. Cook for one minute.
mix the dal and simmer
Combine Dal and Simmer: To the pan, add the cooked dal. Stir thoroughly and
boil for five to ten minutes. For a thicker consistency, mash a little.
Complete: Season with
fresh coriander leaves and garam masala.
Serve heated over rice
or Balti roti.
Tip: add some dollop of
butter before serving for richness taste
